“Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education”- Martin Luther King Jr
Educational institutions today largely claim that they provide 360 degrees, all round quality education to their learners bereft of the true essence of wholesome education with equal importance to IQ and EQ. The jargon of holistic development, hands onactivities and experiential learning is being extremely milked by many such institutions in recent times.
However, the reality proves we highly neglect any such dynamic approach in the ground level. Leaving some, there is lack of ownership, accountability and responsibility from the root level primary play schools to universities engaged in the educational eco system. The society is thus full of unemployable youth off track from their aim in life. We have created machines out of our children sans compassion, sympathy and empathy. They have been programmed for specific functions only. They do not know how to handle adverse situations. Perhaps the rising rate of depression, anxiety and suicides give a clue to this. Our youth hardly knows how to lead a serene and fruitful life; how to filter right from the wrong and how to deal hostility.
DAV Institutions are at par with the ideologies of building human out of man. The idea of Vedas propagated thousands of years in the form of Sanatana scriptures and later carried forward by Swami DayanandSaraswatiare still relevant in these institutions which follow the true goal of education- intelligence plus character as stated by revolutionary leader Martin Luther King. These institutions believe intangible values and ethics are more important than tangible academic scores.
We are lucky to have DAV Mukhyamantri School, Javanga that bears the torch of social transformation in an area where most children are the first generation scholars. Slowly but steadily we growing into a renowned English Medium CBSE School which will change the lifestyle and thought processes of the area. We are slowly inching towards our vision of making men and women of character who would positively contribute to the socie
